Sri Lankan court postpones FR petition on Greek Bond till next year
Sri Lanka Supreme Court has postponed the fundamental rights (FR) petition filed against the Governor of the Central Bank over the controversial investment in Greek Bonds till next year.
The petition filed by main opposition United National Party (UNP) parliamentarian Sujeewa Senasinge will be taken up on February 13th.

Complaint lodged with Bribery Commission against Sri Lanka Central Bank Governor
A legislator of Sri Lanka's main opposition United National Party (UNP) has lodged a complaint against Central Bank Governor Ajith Nivard Cabraal at the Commission to Investigate Allegations of Bribery and Corruption.
UNP parliamentarian Ravi Karunanayaka has lodged the complaint against the Governor on several issues, local media reported.
The issues range from the controversial pyramid scheme, the oil hedging case, the Central Bank's investment of monies in Greek Bonds and the controversial share purchase by National Savings Bank (NSB).

Former deputy leader of Sri Lanka main opposition avoids Fonseka's rally
Former deputy leader of Sri Lanka's main opposition United National Party (UNP), Karu Jayasuriya decided last minute to avoid attending the protest rally organized by the United Bhikku Front on behalf of former Army Commander Sarath Fonseka.
Jayasuriya was scheduled to attend the rally that was organized at Hyde Park this evening.
Issuing a statement, Jayasuriya said he took the decision after a great deal of thought.

Opposition calls on Sri Lankan government to grant university admission to all students affected by the z-scores

Sri Lanka main opposition decides to limit term of leadership
Sri Lanka's main opposition United National Party (UNP) has decided to amend the party constitution at the Working Committee meeting held today.
UNP General Secretary Tissa Attanayake told a press conference that tenure of the party leadership has been limited to six years while the posts of party chairman, general secretary and treasurer will be chosen by the party leader.
