Main opposition MP asks for Sri Lankan housemaid's post mortem report

Sri Lanka's main opposition United National Party (UNP) parliamentarian Lakshman Kiriella has requested the government to present the post mortem report of Sri Lankan housemaid Rizana Nafeek who was executed in Saudi Arabia. Kiriella has questioned in parliament whether the government has received Nafeek's post mortem report. He has observed that the post mortem report would help verify how she was killed. The UNP MP has criticized the government's failure to secure her release and its failure to bring Nafeek's body back to the country. Saudi authorities earlier this month beheaded the 24-year-old housemaid, who was found guilty of smothering a four-month old son of her employer while bottle feeding the baby on May 2005. Nafeek was buried in Saudi Arabia following her execution. The execution has soured the diplomatic relations between the two countries and Sri Lanka recalled its Ambassador in Riyadh as a mark of protest.
