Sri Lanka's controversial main opposition United National Party (UNP) parliamentarian Dayasiri Jayasekera says he has not yet been informed of any disciplinary action initiated against him by the party.
Jayasekera's move to publicly criticize the Working Committee decision to amend the party Constitution to extend the tenure of the party leader to six years and his alleged meeting with the President that fueled talks of a cross over resulted in the party leader calling for a report on Jayasekera. However, Jayasekera said that he would continue in his political path without being intimidated. He has vowed that he would not cross over to the government. He notes that he would be playing an active role in the party's campaign for election in the Sabaragamuwa, North Central and Eastern Provinces. The local media meanwhile has reported today that party secretary Tissa Attanayake has handed over a report on Jayasekera to the party's disciplinary committee. Meanwhile, UNP Deputy Leader Sajith Premadasa has said that any moves to initiate disciplinary action against Jayasekera or anyone else would be detrimental to the party as it might lose popular figures through such action.
