Complaint lodged with Bribery Commission against Sri Lanka Central Bank Governor

A legislator of Sri Lanka's main opposition United National Party (UNP) has lodged a complaint against Central Bank Governor Ajith Nivard Cabraal at the Commission to Investigate Allegations of Bribery and Corruption. UNP parliamentarian Ravi Karunanayaka has lodged the complaint against the Governor on several issues, local media reported. The issues range from the controversial pyramid scheme, the oil hedging case, the Central Bank's investment of monies in Greek Bonds and the controversial share purchase by National Savings Bank (NSB).
The UNP parliamentarian had alleged Cabraal's involvement in all these issues and has called on the Commission to investigate into the matter. Karunanayaka after handing over the complaint has said that he was hopeful some action would be taken regarding the issues. Meanwhile, a group of UNP parliamentarians have also filed a complaint seeking an inquiry into the Central Bank's investment of monies in Greek Bonds that resulted in losses amounting to millions of rupees. -->
