New and insane political culture being nurtured in Sri Lanka - main opposition

Sri Lanka's main opposition United National Party (UNP) says a new and insane political culture at grass roots is now being nurtured with rape against women and young girls growing and drugs pedaled into villages with political patronage. UNP Communications Division Head and parliamentarian Mangala Samaraweera issuing a statement said this most certainly would be the local election machine of this Rajapaksa regime, when elections are fixed in the future.

Main opposition to decide on changing parliamentary session times on Monday

Sri Lanka's main opposition United National Party (UNP) is scheduled to arrive at a final decision on the government's proposal to conduct parliamentary sessions from 2:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at its parliamentary group meeting on Monday (17).
Parliamentary sessions are currently conducted from 9:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.

Addressing a media briefing at the opposition leader's office, UNP spokesman and Galle District MP Gayantha Karunatileka told reporters on Monday that the ailing party is considering some significant changes.

Sri Lanka's major opposition United National Party (UNP) will convene the newly appointed MPs tomorrow for the inaugural meeting of the parliamentary group.

However, the Monaragala district UNP MP Ranjith Madduma Bandara has not been invited to the meeting, sources say.
