Sri Lanka opposition urges the government to slash taxes on motorcycles and trishaws

Sri Lanka's major opposition United National Party (UNP) urged the government to reduce taxes that affect the poor masses as well in the same way the government slashed taxes on luxury goods consumed by affluent sectors of the country.

The UNP urged the government to reduce taxes on motor cycles and trishaws that are used by ordinary people for transport and small businesses in the same way the taxes were slashed from luxury vehicles.
In addition, the UNP told the government to reduce unfair taxes that causes price escalation on children's milk powder and on essential goods.
UNP made this request when the party spokesman Galle district MP Gayantha Karunatileka addressed media today in Colombo.
