Sri Lanka Tamil party MP threatens to launch fast unto death demanding political solution

Sri Lanka Tamil party seeks agreement with government to join PSC
Sri Lanka's major Tamil political party the Tamil National Alliance (TNA) says the government needed to agree to have bi-lateral talks with the party based on the five documents prepared at earlier in relation to a political solution.
TNA parliamentarian M.A. Sumanthiran has told the media following the party's recent visit to India that party would participate in the proposed parliamentary select committee (PSC) if the government agrees to hold bi-lateral talks with the party.

Sri Lanka Tamil party likely to receive agenda for discussions in India this week
Sri Lanka's major Tamil political party, the Tamil National Alliance (TNA) says the agenda for discussions with the Indian government was likely to be received this week.
A delegation of TNA representatives are to travel to India on the 10th of this month following an invitation extended by New Delhi.

Sri Lanka's major Tamil party to contest PC election alone
Sri Lanka's major Tamil constituent Tamil National Alliance (TNA) sources say that the discussions the party had with the Sri Lanka Muslim Congress (SLMC) have failed to create an election alliance.
Accordingly, the TNA has decided to contest the Eastern Provincial Council alone, party sources say.
TNA is now compiling the nomination lists for the two districts, Trincomalee and Batticaloa of the Eastern Province.

Sri Lanka Tamil party denies internal rift in the party
R. Sampanthan, the leader of Sri Lanka' major Tamil political party, the Tamil National Alliance (TNA), has denied reports of a rift in the party as reported by the local media.
Reports of a rift in the TNA emerged following comments made by TNA members over a statement made by Sampanthan at the convention of the Ilankai Tamil Arasu Kadchi (ITAK) in Batticaloa last week.
Some senior TNA members of the party had criticized Sampanthan' statements at the party meeting but he has responded by saying that TNA is a democratic party and members could express their own views.

Sri Lanka Tamil party meets Indian High Commissioner
The leader of the major Tamil party of Sri Lanka, Tamil National Alliance (TNA) has held a meeting with the High Commissioner of India Ashok K. Kantha on Friday (25) in Batticaloa.
Several TNA representatives have also participated in the meeting between the party leader, parliamentarian R. Sampanthan and Mr. Kantha.
According to a TNA spokesperson, the meeting focused on the grievances of the Tamil community in the North and the elections for the Northern Provincial Council that is to be held in future.
