Sri Lanka Tamil party disappointed over Muslim party's decision to contest with the government

Sri Lanka's major Tamil political party, the Tamil National Alliance (TNA) has expressed disappointment over the decision taken by Sri Lanka Muslim Congress (SLMC) to contest the forthcoming Eastern Provincial Council election with the governing United People's Freedom Alliance (UPFA).
TNA parliamentarian Suresh Premachandran said the SLMC's decision was disappointing. He told the media that SLMC's decision to contest with the governing party was a let down to the Tamil speaking people in the Eastern Province. The SLMC earlier considered forming an alliance with the TNA to contest the Eastern Provincial Council election. According to Premachandran, the TNA was prepared to negotiate about the issues the two parties would have had to face in the event an alliance was formed for the election. The TNA says that it was even prepared to negotiate the post of Chief Minister for the Eastern Provincial Council.
