General Fonseka says his parliamentary privileges breached

Sri Lanka's Democratic National Alliance (DNA) parliamentarian Sarath Fonseka told parliament today that his parliamentary privileges have been breached again.

Fonseka said that he was prevented from attending the Parliamentary Consultative Committee meeting of the Defence Ministry held yesterday (19) at the parliamentary complex. The meeting was chaired by President Mahinda Rajapaksa.
Fonseka told parliament that he was a member of this committee, but was unable to attend the meeting since the military officers had not brought him to parliament on time.

He observed that the military officers had attributed the delay to an order received from a higher authority.
