Overstaying Sri Lankans return from Lebanon under amnesty

Sri Lanka Foreign Employment Bureau announced that a group of about 100 Sri Lankan workers who were overstaying in Lebanon without valid visa were to arrive in Sri Lanka today.

Lebanon recently offered an amnesty period for the overstaying Sri Lankan nationals to leave following discussions held by the Bureau and the Embassy in Beirut with the government of Lebanon.
The Foreign Employment Bureau and the Sri Lanka Embassy in Beirut facilitated the safe return of Sri Lankan nationals surrendered to the authorities.
The Chairman of the Bureau Kingsley Ranawaka said that another large group of Sri Lankans has registered at the Sri Lankan Embassy in Beirut to return to Sri Lanka.
