Economic Development Minister of Sri Lanka calls for the amendment of outdated laws to encourage investors to country

May 24,  Economic Development Minister of Sri Lanka, Basil Rajapaksa has said that outdated laws should be amended to encourage investors to start businesses and industries in the island.
"Outdated laws have become red tape for local and foreign entrepreneurs in investing in Sri Lanka," Rajapaksa was quoted by the state-owned Sri Lankan Broadcasting Corporation.

Basil Rajapaksa to assume duties as new Tourism Minister today


Sri Lanka's newly appointed Economic Development Minister Basil Rajapaksa is also to assume duties as the new Tourism Minister today (26).
Minister Rajapaksa is scheduled to visit the Ministry today to commence work in the respective portfolio.
He is expected to outline the new plans for the tourism industry during his meeting with the media.
The Tourism portfolio was previously held by Achala Jagoda.

Basil Rajapaksa, identified as a hard worker, a meticulous planner and an astute manager is expected to handle the prospects of economic growth of Sri Lanka in the post-war period.

Basil makes a list of names of businessmen who earned from the war


Sources from Temple Trees said Senior Presidential Advisor Basil Rajapaksa is heading a committee tasked to form a list of names of businessmen who made money from the war. The list it is learnt is being prepared to receive the support of these businessmen for President Mahinda Rajapaksa at the next Presidential election.

One Lalith Piyum Perera has been tasked to collect data related to these businessmen from the Central Bank and the Inland Revenue Department. Lalith Piyum Perera is the Secretary of First Son, Namal Rajapaksa’s organization, Tharunyata Hetak.
