The National Languages and Social Integration Minister of Sri Lanka is to set up provincial language centers in all provinces to expedite the building of a bi-lingual society in the country.
National Languages and Social Integration Minister Vasudeva Nanayakkara has said
the aim is to create a bi-lingual society in the country within the next five to 10 years. He has explained that a bi-lingual society would remove the language barrier and create peace among all communities. Nanayakkara has pointed out that the teaching of Sinhala language to the Tamils and vice versa is recommended in the Lessons Learnt and Reconciliation Commission (LLRC). According to Nanayakkara, the first provincial language center is to be set up shortly in Kilinochchi in the Northern Province.
