Two more witnesses added to the controversial "white flag" case Wed, May 4, 2011, 08:19 pm SL Time, ColomboPage News Desk, Sri Lanka.

The counsel appearing for former Army Commander Sarath Fonseka in the controversial "white flag" case has added two more witnesses to the case.

The new witnesses are External Affairs Ministry Secretary Karunatileka Amunugama and parliamentarian Prof. Rajiva Wijesinha.

It is said that the report by the panel of experts appointed by UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon on Sri Lanka is to figure in the white flag case.

The case was taken up at the Colombo High Court today. However, the hearing was postponed for May 12 as the senior counsel Nalin Ladduwahetti who was appearing on behalf of Fonseka is currently overseas.

Fonseka was accused of disclosing state secrets for allegedly telling The Sunday Leader newspaper in an interview that Defence Secretary Gotabhaya Rajapaksa had ordered the shooting of senior LTTE cadres who tried to surrender to the security forces carrying white flags during the final stages of the war.
