Main opposition asks Sri Lanka Speaker to appoint select committee to probe senior LTTE leader KP

A group of legislators from the main opposition United National Party (UNP) has handed over a motion to Sri Lanka Speaker calling for a parliamentary select committee to inquire and report on the former LTTE international arms procurer Kumaran Pathmanatahan alias KP.

A group of nine UNP parliamentarians have called for a parliamentary select committee to find out the circumstances under which KP is being held in custody and whether the government intended to file charges against him.

The legislators have asked for the committee to be given the mandate to find the locations of assets belonging to the LTTE.

UNP MPs Ravi Karunanayaka, Lakshman Kiriella, Palitha Range Bandara, and Eran Wickramarathna are among those who have signed the motion.
