Two groups of student teachers clash in Sri Lanka; 26 hospitalized

A clash between two groups of student teachers of Siyane National College of Education in Veyangoda of Gampaha District has left 26 teacher students sustaining injuries.

The injured students had been admitted to the Wathupitiwala Base Hospital.

The clash took place early morning today, college sources said.

Acting Medical Superintendent of the Wathupitiwala Base Hospital Inoka Jayaweera said the injuries students received are not life-threatening.

The cause for the clash is yet not known.

The students are following a three-year course of teacher training at the end of which they are appointed to government schools.
