Cleveland Bridge UK Ltd, has won a contract to build the 210 permanent steel bridges in Sri Lanka in a project partly funded with a loan of £ 35 million from the Export Credits Guaranteed Department (ECGD) of the UK.

The British High Commissioner to Sri Lanka, John Rankin has said that the UK Government is pleased to help Sri Lanka in its rapid and long-term economic development.
"We are pleased that Sri Lanka has selected Cleveland Bridge UK, a reputed British company that has proven their engineering excellence globally" Rankin has remarked.
The project, to be completed by 2014, will install 210 steel bridges of 6-30 meter in lengths across the country.
