Sri Lanka's major opposition United National Party (UNP) sources say that the party will bring a no-confidence motion against the Prime Minister D.M. Jayaratne.
The UNP no confidence motion against the Prime Minister is based on a statement made by the PM at the parliament during the emergency debate. The Premier stated that there are three training camps of the Liberation Tigers of Tamil Eelam (LTTE) operating in India's Tamil Nadu state.
India has strongly denied the claim that there are Tamil Tiger training camps in India.
The Prime Minister later recanted his claim saying that he made the statement based on the false information in media reports.
The UNP charges that the premier attempted to mislead the parliament by submitting false information.
