Sri Lanka's main opposition United National Party (UNP) today said the government has failed to pass any benefits achieved by ending the war to the people.
UNP Spokesperson and parliamentarian Gayantha Karunatileka told a press conference that the people have not been passed the benefit of the monies that are being saved from defence expenditure due to the end of the war.
He said that the government has even taken steps to restore the salaries and other benefits of the parliamentarians that were curtailed during the period of the war.
According to Karunatileka, the government instead of providing concessions to the masses, has spent money buying luxury vehicles for them.
