Sri Lanka and Kenya have inked an agreement to allow Kenyan airlines to launch direct flights to Colombo.
Sri Lanka's High Commissioner to Kenya J.P. Dissanayake and Kenyan Transport Minister Amos Kimunya have signed a bilateral air services agreement that allows access to Sri Lanka's skies, state-run TV, ITN reported.
Kenyan minister has said the agreement has laid the framework for direct access to the two economies that offer a combined market of over 60 million people and the launching air links between the two countries would immensely be beneficial for the airlines.
Further according to the Minister the agreement will pave the way for increased bilateral trade opportunities between the two countries, especially trade in rubber products, processing, and packaging of tea and the textile industry.
The Sri Lankan High Commissioner was of the view that Kenya is an important getaway into East Africa and the agreement could be used to encourage more business into the region.
