The Sri Lankan government today (8) said that it would not obstruct any peaceful protest.
Sri Lanka's External Affairs Minister Prof. G.L. Peiris told the media today that there would not be any attempt to obstruct the fast unto death commenced by National Freedom Front (NFF) Leader and Minister Wimal Weerawansa outside the UN Office in Colombo as it was the democratic right of any group or organization to hold peaceful protests.
However, he said the UN members in Colombo have been assured of their safety.
Peiris also said that the government was seeking an end to the crisis caused by the protest launched since the 6th by the NFF outside the UN office in Colombo.
