Sri Lanka Air Force helps to douse raging fire

Habarana: Sri Lanka Air Force (SLAF) has come to the aid of local authorities fighting a raging fire in the early hours of today in Habarana in the North Central Province by bringing water to douse the inferno.


The SLAF had deployed its Bell 212 helicopters from No. 07 Squadron Base Hingurakgoda to use Bambi Buckets to haul water from the Minneriya Tank.

Twenty consecutive shuttles from the Minneriya tank had brought the raging fire under control, the Air Force said.

The blaze was raging out of control destroying the vegetation in the dry zone and threatening the lives of the residents in the area.
