Tamara to Cuba, Ravinatha to Geneva
Despite objections by Sri Lanka’s Permanent Representative to the UN Tamara Kunanayakam of herself being transferred from her post, Sri Lanka’s ambassador to Belgium, Luxembourg and the EU Ravinatha Aryasinha has been appointed the new Permanent Representative to the UN, informed sources said.
Ms. Kunanayakam will be sent as Ambassador to Cuba.

UPR is the proper mechanism to review Sri Lanka's progress in human rights, UN Council told
Expressing concern over a resolution against the country at the currently proceeding sessions of the United Nations Human Rights Council (UNHRC), Sri Lanka told the Council that the Universal Periodic Review (UPR) is the appropriate mechanism to discuss progress made in the promotions and protection of human rights in the country.
Sri Lanka's Permanent Representative to the UN mission in Geneva, Ambassador Tamara Kunanayakam exercising her right to reply to the statements made by the United States and European Union at the Council said

Sri Lankan expatriates in Europe protest against UN panel and GSP+ suspension
Thousands of expatriate Sri Lankans residing in Italy and other European countries organized a massive demonstration in Geneva, Switzerland yesterday against the Panel of Experts appointed by the UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon.
