Sri Lanka's Permanent Representative to the UN in Geneva, Ambassador Ravinatha Aryasinha has expressed his country's opposition to airing the documentary made by the Britain's Channel 4, titled "No Fire Zone: The Killing Fields of Sri Lanka," on the sidelines of the UN session. He has told the UNHRC President in a letter that airing of the "discredited, uncorroborated and unsubstantiated" video could be a violation of UN charter, according to an AP report. The documentary described by the producers as "carefully evidenced and powerfully measured" film was screened in India on Friday (22) provoking severe anti-Sri Lankan sentiments in that country, especially in Tamil-dominated Tamil Nadu. Sri Lanka has strongly rejected the video as "concocted lies, half-truths and speculations" to embarrass the country at the UNHRC session.
