Sri Lankan expatriates in Europe to protest against UN panel and GSP+ suspension tomorrow
Expatriate Sri Lankans residing in Italy and other European countries have organized a massive demonstration in Geneva, Switzerland against the Panel of Experts appointed by the UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon.
The protest rally will take place in front of the United Nations office in Geneva on Sunday July 25th at 2:00 p.m. local time.
The rally will also voice against the European Union's decision to suspend the Generalized System of Preferences Plus tariff concession to Sri Lanka from August 15th.
The organizers plan to hand over a letterto the authorities at the rally. Earlier the letter regarding the GSP+ concession has been handed over to the Rome office of the European Parliament.
About 1,000 participants are expected to attend the event.
