Pakistan sends flood relief to Sri Lanka

Pakistan under the instructions of Prime Minister Syed Yousuf Raza Gilani has sent a consignment of aid for the flood victims in Sri Lanka.

Pakistan's National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) has sent a C-130 aircraft yesterday to Sri Lanka with relief goods for the flood-affected. A team of senior NDMA officials was also onboard to handover the humanitarian cargo to their Sri Lankan counterparts, the Pakistani government reported.

On behalf of the Pakistan government its High Commissioner in Colombo Ms. Seema Illahi Baloch handed over the first part of the consignment to Economic Development Minister Basil Rajapaksa at the Katunayake Airport this morning.

The relief shipment included 300 Tents and 1000 Blankets.

Pakistani has said this expression of solidarity by the Government of Pakistan reflects the longstanding friendly relations between the two countries and pledged to continue the emergency aid for Sri Lanka.
