Sri Lanka government coalition activists held a protest today in front of the British High Commission in Sri Lankan capital against the British government and the pro-LTTE Tamil activists.
Ruling coalition party National Freedom Front led by Minister Wimal Weerawansa held a demonstration in front of the UK High Commission this noon in protest of the cancellation of the President's lecture at the Oxford Union and allowing the Tamil activists to protest.
Thousands of Demonstrators have gathered outside the British high commission in Colombo amid heavy police presence to protest the pro-LTTE demonstrations in London during President Mahinda Rajapaksa's UK visit.
The protestors led by Minister Wimal Weerawansa accused the British government of supporting the pro-LTTE Tamil diaspora to revive the vanquished terrorist organization.
Waving the flags of the Tamil Tiger outfit, banned in the UK, the pro-LTTE Tamil groups held protests during the President's visit in London outside the hotel where President Rajapaksa was staying.
Meanwhile the Joint Trade Union Coalition led by Western Province Governor Alevi Moulana held a protest in front of the Fort Railway Station in protest of UK government, the Tamil activists, United National Party MP Jayalath Jayawardena, and Left Front leader Dr. Wickramabahu Karunarathne.
MP Jayalath Jayawardena and Dr. Wickramabahu Karunarathne have allegedly supported the protests of the Tamil activists in London.
