Sri Lanka Telecom (SLT) announced today that as of now 200,000 broadband customers in the country possess ADSL connections provided by SLT.
SLT says this achievement represents more than 70% of Sri Lanka's total broadband consumer base and over 20% of SLT Megaline (PSTN/wireline) telephone customer base.
SLT has sold 80,000 ADSL connections during this year mainly for customers who want to access high-speed internet and Internet Protocol Television (IPTV) and PEO-TV services.
The premier telecommunication service provider with SLT VisionCom Private Limited launched its IPTV service in September of 2008.
SLT has laid out a fiber optic information superhighway to the Jaffna Peninsula in Northern Province to connect the region to the rest of the world.
