Sri Lankan government had received Rs. 93 billion through supplementary estimates last year



 The Sri Lankan government said today that it had presented 27 supplementary estimates last year to the tune of Rs. 93 billion.

Deputy Finance Minister Chandrasiri Gajadeera told parliament in response to a question posed by Democratic National Alliance (DNA) parliamentarian Sunil Handunnetti that bulk of the funds approved in the supplementary estimates, amounting to over Rs.33 billion, had been allocated to the Defence Ministry.
According to Gajadeera, though the supplementary estimates around Rs. 20 billion had been allocated to the Finance and Planning Ministry, Rs. 10.6 billion to Highways and Road Development Ministry, around Rs 9 billion to Nation Building and Estate Infrastructure Development Ministry and around Rs 7 billion to Transport Ministry.
