SLFP disciplinary committee inquiring into sacked minister to reconvene today

The Sri Lanka Freedom Party (SLFP) special disciplinary committee inquiring into the conduct of former deputy minister Mervyn Silva is to reconvene today.
The committee is headed by President's Counsel Jayantha Weerasinghe and consists of Attorney-at-Law N.M. Sahid and Mahinda Samarasekara who will also be the secretary to the committee.
Silva gave evidence before the SLFP disciplinary committee when the three-member committee convened for the first time on Friday (20).
The inquiry is into Silva's conduct, especially the tying of a Samurdhi officer to a tree in Kelaniya for failing to attend an anti-dengue campaign.
Following Silva's action to tie up the Samurdhi officer to a tree, Samurdhi officers island wide launched protest campaigns against the act and called for action against him.
