Bollywood superstar Vivek Oberoi visited Sri Lanka's former war-ravaged Vavuniya city and other areas in the district to initiate a rehabilitation project there.
He travelled to Vavuniya by air accompanied by Deputy Minister of Economic Development Lakshman Yapa Abeywardena and held discussions with the District Secretary of Vavuniya, NGOs and the displaced and resettled civilians.
Later he visited resettled people in Nedunkerni in Vavuniya district. Sources said that he is planning to build a school there. The proposed school is situated in Mareithuruppai and 75 students are learning there. Local and Indian artists are to help him to build this school.
Vivek Oberoi was in Sri Lanka to participate in the IIFA awards ceremony held last Saturday.
