The scientist, Dr VV Radhakrishnan, an E-grade scientist working in the engineering services department, a non-core department in the sensitive atomic research station, had given sleepless nights to the police department of neighbouring Kanchipuram district apart from sending his neighbours, colleagues and employers into a state of panic over his disappearance.
Dr Radhakrishnan who went missing since Sunday left all his belongings including his cell phone and ATM cards at his house in the official quarters at Kalpakkam before doing the disappearing act.
It was his wife Sheeja, who works as a teacher in Kerala, who filed a complaint with the police here after her attempts to call him on his mobile went in vain. Enquiries also revealed that he had not been at home for the past few days. His wife then came to Chennai. As the news got flashed with his pictures on Thursday morning, the Pallavaram police in neighbouring Chennai, who had nabbed him on Sunday, alerted their counterparts of his presence in the Puzhal jail.
He had been lodged in jail following a complaint made against him by a women running a man-power agency of facing harassment over phone and SMS.
To the police, who nabbed him after making the lady call him to a designated spot, Radhakrishnan had given has name as Shyam Sundar, a resident of Bangalore who was working in Chennai. It was his photographs in the dailies today that brought his true identity to light. His wife and his brother, Padhmaraj, have identified him in jail.
