Chief Minister of Sri Lanka's Western Province dissolves Colombo Municipal Council

Sri Lanka's Chief Minister of the Western Provincial Council, Prasanna Ranatunga has dissolved the Colombo Municipal Council (CMC) with effect from tomorrow (23).



The decision has been taken to dissolve the local governing body over corruption charges.

The Chief Minister has told the local media today (22) that the relevant gazette notification has been sent for print at the Government Printer's Department.

According to Ranatunga, a special commissioner has been appointed to oversee the functions of the CMC.
