JHU sources said although Ven. Uduwe Dhammaloka Thero had informed General Sarath Fonseka that the President was agreeable to remove Army Chief, Lt. General Jagath Jayasuriya in a matter of hours in order to appoint a person suggested by the General to the post, General Fonseka had not responded favorably to the suggestion.
Upon hearing Ven. Uduwe Thero’s message from the President, General Fonseka had said there was now no point in speaking about what has happened.
Ven. Uduwe Thero and JHU head Ven. Ellawela Medhanandha Thero had met with General Fonseka on the 22nd to try and resolve the rift between the President and the General
