President Mahinda Rajapaksa had informed his security personnel during his visit to Matale on the 18th to participate in the felicitation ceremony held for the military personnel from the Central Province that he needed to visit UNP parliamentarian Ranjith Aluvihare in Matale.
The President’s security personnel had then visited Ranjith Aluvihare’s residence and informed the need to check the residence as the President planned on visiting the place to inquire after the well being of Aluvihare’s mother.
A shocked parliamentarian had said he was not informed of any Presidential visit to his residence.
Ranjith Aluvihare had immediately informed his brother Wasantha Aluvihare that the President was planning on visiting their residence in the same manner he did during their father’s alms giving and had suggested that both of them leave the house before the President’s arrival.
Wasantha had said, “Why is the President who does not have the time to attend the alms giving of D.M. Dasanayake and Richard Pathirana visit us?” The two brothers had then made a hasty retreat from their residence.
