Colombo: As a result of the sudden death of volleyball captain of the Southern Province women's team, the entire volleyball tournament of the ongoing National Sports Festival has been called off.
Captain of the Southern women's volleyball team and a member of the Sri Lanka national team, N. Y. Mayuri Madusha (21) died in an accident while returning to the team's lodging for the night from the National Sports Festival held in Polonnaruwa.
Two more players have been admitted to the Polonnaruwa hospital with life threatening injuries, police confirmed.
