The Sri Lankan government is considering to revamp the school and university education structure.
Higher Education Minister S.B. Dissanayake has said the government is trying to bring the education structure in the country on par with the structures of many other countries.
He has explained that under the new structure, students would be admitted to school at the age of four and university entrance would be at the age of 16.
He has observed that students under the new system would sit for GCE Ordinary Level examinations when they are in Grade 10 and GCE Advanced level examinations when they are in Grade 12.
According to Dissanayake, a student would pass out from the university at the age of 21 once the new structure is in place.
