A Pakistani officer and an Indian officer are among the student officers who received top honors at the graduation ceremony of Sri Lanka's Defence Services Command and Staff College held at the Temple Trees December 20.
The Chief Guest Minister of External Affairs Prof. GL Peiris awarded the 'Golden Owl' Award first in order of merit to the best student officers in recognition of their talents at the ceremony.

Pakistan Army Officer Major Muhammad Taimur Ashraf received the Best Foreign Student Officer award and the Wing Commander Devashish Kukreti of India received the Best Student Officer in Air Wing.
Wing Commander WRDMI Wickremasinghe received the award for the best Sri Lankan Student Officer.
Major PGTUB. Jayaratne was the Best Student Officer in the Army wing while Lieutenant Commander Y. R. Edirisinghe received the Golden Owl award from the Navy Wing.
Major MAKRK Abewickramasinghe received the Commandant's Golden Pen Award for the Best Research paper.
The Defence Services Command and Staff College Sapugaskanda is one of the most prestigious institutions of the region and highest seat of learning in Sri Lanka. The Course No 6 Commenced on 03 January 2012 and terminated on 20 December 2012.
A total of 103 officers, representing 56 officers from the Army, 19 officers from the Navy, 17 officers from the Air Force and 11 officers from Pakistan, Bangladesh, China, Indonesia, Malaysia, Maldives, Nepal, and India had successfully completed the DSCSC Course No 6 and received their graduation certificates from Minister Prof. GL Peiris at the ceremony.
Secretary to the President Lalith Weeratunga, Secretary of the Ministry of Defence & Urban Development Gotabhaya Rajapaksa, the Chief of Defence Staff, the Commanders of the Army, Navy and Air Force and Vice Chancellor of Kotelawala Defence University Major General M P Peiris, were among the participants.
