Sri Lanka's Minister of Health Maithripala Sirisena explaining his brother's arrest over an alleged arson attack on a Wildlife Department office said today that he instructed the police to arrest his brother.
Addressing a media conference today, the General Secretary of the Sri Lanka Freedom Party said
immediately after he learned about his brother's involvement he called the Wild Life Director and his officials and the Police to his Polonnaruwa Office and gave instructions to take immediate action to arrest his brother and proceed with necessary legal action. Priyantha Sirisena, the younger brother of the Minister is accused of storming the Jalagalum Nimna Wildlife Office at Manampitiya on October 05 with a group of supporters and setting fire to the office after threatening the officers with death. The Polonnaruwa Magistrate Court remanded the younger Sirisena on October 16 after he surrendered to the police. The Minister said that he instructed the Police not to show any leniency to his brother, and take appropriate action according to the law. -->
