Sri Lanka's major opposition United National Party (UNP) has called a meeting of opposition political parties, trade unions and civil organizations aiming to mobilize people against the cost of living.
The discussion will be held on October 30 to decide the actions to be taken unless relief is granted from the budget that is to be tabled on November 08. The UNP suggests the people to mobilize against the government from January 2013 unless the government increases salaries and provides other relief. A number of organizations including left parties and major trade unions are expected to join this discussion, UNP sources say. The party has also decided to invite former Army Commander Sarath Fonseka to join this discussion, party sources say. -->
