Sri Lanka monitoring the situation of migrant employees in Lebanon

The Sri Lankan government says that the situation in Lebanon is closely monitored and immediate steps will be taken for safety of Sri Lankans there in case of an emergency. Sri Lanka's Ambassador in Tripoli Ranjith Gunarathne has held discussions with the Lebanon Ministry of External Affairs over the safety of the migrant employees.
The Embassy has informed Sri Lankans in Lebanon not to come out of the safe places where they stay. Clashes in the country have caused many deaths and injuries to people. The Sri Lanka ambassador says that the situation is monitored 24 hours a day and if needed teams are ready to be sent for rescue of Sri Lankans. Around 80,000 Sri Lankans are employed in Lebanon. The majority of them are female domestic aide. -->
