Sri Lanka President engages in religious activities

Sri Lankan President Mahinda Rajapaksa spent the weakened in Kataragama engaging in religious activities. The President who arrived at the sacred grounds of Kataragama on Saturday paid homage to the Kiri Wehera Raja Maha Viharaya and inquired into the well-being of the Chief Incumbent Venerable Dr. Aluthwewa Soratha Thera before visiting the Dewalaya.
Following his religious activities, the President observed the 10th procession of the Esala Perahera of the Ruhunu Kataragama Maha Devalaya on Saturday night.

The President arrived at the Tissamaharama sacred grounds on Sunday morning to pay homage to the Tissamaharama Raja Maha Viharaya and received blessings from the chief incumbent of the temple Venerable Dewalegama Dhammasena Thera.

The President later arrived in Ambalantota where he opened a Dansala at the Central bus stand organized by the Ruhuna Rice Producers Association for the pilgrims visiting the Kataragama Esala Festival.

Speaker Chamal Rajapaksa and Deputy Minister Rohana Kumara Dissanayake also participated in the occasion.
