Sri Lanka's National Movement for Fair Society says that a new political movement will be launched with the participation of religious, political leaders and professionals in the near future to end the political culture prevailing in the country presently.
The Convener of the National Movement for Fair Society Ulapone Sumangala Thero says that the decision was taken at a discussion held in the Dharmayathanaya, Narahenpita, Colombo recently under the patronage of Ven. Maduluwave Sobhitha Thero. The organization has said that it would forge a broad front to fight "lawlessness, crime, bribery, corruption and unbridled politicization and to restore democracy and good governance in the country." Ulapone Sumangala Thero has said that the former Army Commander Sarath Fonseka and the former Deputy Leader of the United National Party (UNP) Karu Jayasuriya also participated in the discussion. The convener stated that the UNP Deputy Leader Sajith Premadasa was also invited to the discussion.
