Results of Sri Lanka's highly competitive examination change for 2,725 candidates

Sri Lanka Minister of Education Bandula Gunawardena said addressing a press conference held in Colombo today that the results of 2,725 students who sat for the G.C.E. Advanced Level examination in 2011 has changed after the re-correction.
The results of the country's most competitive examination caused a huge controversy due to a technical failure in preparation of results. As a result nearly half of the candidates applied for re-correction. However, the results of the re-evaluation were issued only today after the verdict of a court case pertaining to the examination was delivered Monday. Sri Lanka's Supreme Court Monday ordered to annul current Z-score marks of the 2011 GCE Advanced Level Examination and ordered the University Grants Commission to recalculate the Z-score separately for students who took the exam under the old and new syllabi. Meanwhile the University Grants Commission of Sri Lanka says that they will go back to the Supreme Court demanding a clarification regarding the verdict. University Grants Commission argues that the preparation of the Z-score is in the purview of the Examination Department.
