Main party of Sri Lankan government appoints committee to propose mechanism to implement LLRC recommendations

The key collation party of Sri Lanka's governing United People's Freedom Alliance (UPFA), the Sri Lanka Freedom Party (SLFP) has appointed a four-member committee to propose the mechanism to implement recommendations of the Lessons Learnt and Reconciliation Commission (LLRC). SLFP General Secretary, Minister Maithripala Sirisena said
the party's Central Committee has appointed a committee comprising Ministers Nimal Siripala de Silva, Prof. G.L. Peiris and Basil Rajapaksa and President's Counsel Saliya Mathew. He explained that this committee would prepare a report on the implementation of the LLRC recommendations. He observed that the committee is currently preparing the report and would be completed within a few weeks. According to Sirisena, the committee would submit the report once completed to the party's Central Committee for approval.
