Sri Lanka President hands over 30 houses to members of security forces

Sri Lankan President Mahinda Rajapaksa today handed over 30 houses built under the 8th phase of the 'Api Wenuwen Api' housing project that is being implemented throughout the country for war veterans.
The President handed over 30 houses to 26 Army and 4 Navy personnel in a ceremony held at the Meeduma Sri Sumangala College Grounds in Kegalle.

A large number of houses have been vested in the members of security forces under the first seven phases in Kandy, Kurunegala, Matara, Hambantota, Badulla, Moneragala, Galle, Ampara, Trincomalee and Kalutara districts.
A development project was also launched in the Sumangala Vidyalaya in Meeduma simultaneous to the housing project. Prizes were presented to five hundred students.
Secretary to the President Lalith Weeratunga, Chief Minister of Sabaragamuwa Province Mahipala Herath, Governor V.J.M Lokubandara, Telecommunication and IT Minister Ranjith Siyambalapitiya, and Defence Secretary Gotabhaya Rajapaksa, were also present at the occasion.
