Sri Lanka confident India will take right decision - Sri Lankan envoy

Sri Lanka says it believes that the Tamil political parties from the state of Tamil Nadu are lobbied by the pro-LTTE groups in the state sympathetic to the LTTE ideology but it is confident that India will take the right decision at the right time. Speaking to the ANI news service in New Delhi on Wednesday, the Sri Lankan High Commissioner to India Prasad Kariyawasam has said that
Tamil Nadu MPs have been lobbied by pro-LTTE groups active in Tamil Nadu. "We are confident that India will take right decision at right time," the High Commissioner has said. He has said that the heavy lobbying by the groups supportive of LTTE in Tamil Nadu and elsewhere gives the wrong perception of the real ground situation in Sri Lanka. Parliament members from Tamil Nadu parties AIDMK, DMK, roaring against Sri Lanka over alleged human rights violations and asking the center government to support a United Nations resolution presented by the United States, disrupted the parliamentary proceedings in both houses of the Indian parliament Tuesday. The Sri Lankan envoy has said that Tamil Nadu political leaders have been misinformed and ill-informed about situation in Sri Lanka and invited them to visit Sri Lanka to get a firsthand look at the ground situation . "We would like them to visit, talk to us and engage with us so that we can understand their concerns and take action accordingly without doing so their agitation at Lok sabha and Rajya Sabha is unfortunate," the High Commissioner has said. Commending India for being a responsible world power the Sri Lankan High Commissioner has said that India understands the importance of good relations with countries in the region and in the context of ongoing dialogue between India and Sri Lanka on all issues concerning rehabilitation and reconstruction of war affected areas in Sri Lanka. India's External Affairs Minister S. M. Krishna Wednesday said India needs to consider the implications of its actions carefully as any assertions may have implications on the historically friendly relations with the neighbor. Krishna expressed hope to achieve a "forward looking outcome that is based on reconciliation and accountability rather than deepening confrontation and mistrust between the concerned parties."
