Sri Lanka clergy stage procession and rally against UNHRC

Thousands of Sri Lankan Buddhist monks and priests of other faiths staged a foot procession and held a religious ceremony Monday to rally behind the country against the international forces that support a UN resolution on Sri Lanka alleging of war crimes.
The National Movement to Safeguard the Freedom, the organizers of the Jathika Maha Adhishtanaya, said 4,000 Buddhist monks and over 1,000 other religious leaders joined by youth took part in the procession. The foot procession commenced from the Lotus Pond Mahinda Rajapaksa Performance Theatre and marched to the Vihara Maha Devi park in Colombo Municipal Council grounds. The religious leaders called for the country to unite together to safeguard the freedom it won defeating terrorism three years ago. The Puja and Satyagraha were held to invoke the strength, courage and blessings on the country to defeat the US sponsored anti Sri Lankan resolution at the ongoing 19th Session of the UNHRC in Geneva.
