The former deputy leader of Sri Lanka opposition yet to accept the electoral organizer post

Sri Lanka major opposition United National Party (UNP) sources say that the former Deputy Leader Karu Jayasuriya has not yet accepted the post of electoral organizer that was vested in him. Jayasuriya was offered the position of electoral organizer of Mahara electorate around a month ago but he did not appear to accept the letter of appointment from the party leader. However, Jayasuriya has not declined the position either, UNP sources said,
adding that the former Deputy Leader had not informed anything in writing to the party. Karu Jayasuriya has not issued any public statement also regarding the position given to him. Formerly Jayasuriya was the electoral organizer of Gampaha electorate. He contested to the position of party leader in December and lost with a wide margin to the incumbent leader Ranil Wickremasinghe. Following the defeat he fell out from the party executive committee. UNP sources say that the party executive committee has focused on the problem and will soon ask from Jayasuriya officially about his stance. The party plans to hold training sessions for the new electoral organizers on March 12 and 16.
