Religious leaders in Sri Lanka call for the implementation of LLRC recommendations

Religious leaders in Sri Lanka have called on the government to implement the recommendations made in the Lessons Learnt and Reconciliation Commission (LLRC) in its final report. The Congress of Religions told the media that the recommendations needed to be implemented immediately.
The Congress has noted that it is prepared to form a people's movement to impress upon the government the need to implement the recommendations in order to help the reconciliation process. The religious leaders have observed that they were ready to intervene bringing about reconciliation in the country. "We would keep a close watch on the implementation of the recommendations," the religious leaders have said. Among the religious leaders who expressed their concerns were Ven. Dr. Bellanwila Wimalaratne Thero, Ven. Maduluwawe Sobitha Thero, Archbishop Emeritus Oswald Gomis, Swamy Gunanda Sharma and Mowlavi M.S.M. Cassim.
