Sri Lankan government to increase the number of students entering local universities

The Higher Education Minister of Sri Lanka S.B. Dissanayake has said that the number of students entering local universities will be increased from this year.
Dissanayake has noted that the government has decided to increase the admissions of university students by 2,000 this year.

The total number of students to local universities has therefore been increased to 23,000.

Referring to the massive protests raised by university students' unions over the government's decision to increase the slots allocated to foreign students in local universities, Dissanayake has said that enrolling foreign students would help increase the standards of local universities.
